The E.A.R.T.H. Fund

The E.A.R.T.H. Fund was established as a vehicle for contributions to El Encanto’s community, San Juan del Sur and its people. It is a collaboration that enables El Encanto to share its resources with the city in the same generous manner that San Juan del Sur shares their city and their opportunities with us.

The funding is accomplished in two ways currently. One, the developers contribute a percentage of each sale (whether it be lot, home, townhome) directly to the fund. Secondly, they request voluntary donations from the buyers at El Encanto, as well as from realtors and others involved in the sales transaction.

Over the past year and a half, the Fund has assisted on a number of fronts: helping in the construction of the towns sports park, as well as helping complete a pre-school outside of town. Funds have assisted the Mobile Library, organized (with GrupoMax SA) the first Farmers Market in San Juan, established an education fund that helps local students complete primary and secondary school and/or college studies and has assisted the recycling program in town by providing sustainable bamboo for garbage and plastic recycling bins throughout town. Finally funds were allocated for providing hearing aids and medical attention to youths desperately in need of such aid.

This is just the beginning. In the near future we plan on hiring an Executive Director to provide cohesive organization and direction between the Fund and the many opportunities it can assist in San Juan. If you would like to help or contribute, please contact us at info@elencantodelsur.com.
